Snow goose, Canada goose and malard duck calls from
“Haydell Games Call”
Many good calls are on the market these days for snow goose, Canada
goose, malard duck and black duck. Prices vary a lot too. You do not
have to pay a high price for an effective call but some basics are
important. It must be light, the inside tongue must still be effective
after a few uses, it should have a quality sound, easy to use at first
try and small enough to be handy.
Haydell Games Call
All along the years, I have used many models et I definitely prefer
those from Haydell Games Call. This company developed a call with all my
important quality requirements. What impressed me the most: Once, on a
rainy hunting day, I dropped my call into deep water. After a little
wiping, believe it or not, it was still working very well. The calls are
sold a a low price and its quality / price ratio is exceptional. I
cannot remember how many times the adult snow geese turned aroung and
came to me!
My preferences
For snow goose hunting, there are three absolute models: model B-81,
Blue & Snow Goose, the variable Tone Snow Geese model and the Magnum
Snow Goose msg-96 model. These three calls are for different hunting
situations. They can make all different sounds: the feeding sound, the
growling sound of one or a group of geese. If there are many hunters
making calls at the same time, in the middle of many goose decoys, it
will be even more effective. It will accurately reproduce a goose flock
in a feeding process.
I have two prefered calls for Canada Goose hunting: Model h-81 “Canada
Honker” and the flute. Those two are complementary calls, one for long
distance calls and the other for growling confinement sounds when the
geese are near you. They are easy to use, do not ask for too much air
and the inside tongue does not stick when it is used at a high level.
